FOR DED INITIATIVES, LCM EXPRESSES GRATITUDE The
President of the Liberian Community of Minnesota/ Saint Paul, Mr. Edward William Carter, Jr. has expressed his community profound appreciation and felicitation to President Barack H. Obama,
the government and people of the United States for the extension of the Temporary Protective Status for over 10,000 Liberians.
In a telephone conversation after hearing about the extension, Mr. Carter who sounded upbeat, praised President Obama for what he called, “this great act of magnanimity,’ which he said manifest the “historic relationship” subsisting between Liberia and the United States. He assured the government and people of
the United States that Liberians living in the United States will continue to remain a reliable and constructive partner-
in- progress. Speaking further, the LCM Chief Executive thanked all Liberians and friends
of Liberia for their love and concern demonstrated through advocacy and other means to bring reprieve to the our people. He
paid homage to Dr. Martor Kpangba, Interim President of ULAA, Hon. James Larsha, Chairman of ULAA’s Board of Directors
and other officials for their leadership in championing the cause of their affected brothers and sisters. President
carter also extended special thanks and appreciation to Congressman Keith Ellison, Senators Amy Koubarchu, Jack Reeves, and
Ted Kennedy, Leaders of the Congressional Black Caucus, His Lordship, Christopher Coleman, Mayor of the City of St Paul, and
the Minnesota Advocate for Human Rights for their support. Mr. Carter than called on all Liberians
and Liberian based organizations to close rank and redouble their efforts to finding a long-term solution to the Liberian
immigration problem.
