Doc to lead nursing academy in Liberia
A Refugio family physician plans to lead a nursing school in Liberia without even leaving the U.S.
Dr. J. Stefan Walker
said he was asked by the administrator of the Greater Love Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia, to head up a vocational nursing
program at the hospital, which he first learned about through a Woodsboro resident working in the area.

Talk" with Furman University President David E. Shi at the school on April 13, a spokesman said.
The event, sponsored

Sankawulo Finally Laid to Rest
The remains of professor Wilton Sankawulo, former Chairman of the erstwhile National Transitional Government of Liberia (NTGL)
was yesterday, March 17, 2009 laid to rest near his home in Gardnersville, outside Monrovia.
The former transitional
chairman died on February 21, 2009 at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Sinkor after a brief period of illness.
The funeral service of professor Sankawulo, who until his death, served as professor of English and literature
at the University of Liberia (UL) was held at the historic Centennial Pavilion on Ashumun street, Monrovia
U.S. should extend stay of Liberian refugees
My eighth-grade science teacher is finally getting his wish. In 1964, the decade of the civil-rights movement, his solution
to America's "Negro problem" was "Send them back to Africa." He may get his wish in 2009, although
it masquerades as a different problem.
America, a great nation that prides itself as the land of freedom and
opportunity — which it has been for refugees from the Liberian civil war — now wants to solve its immigration
problem by sending legal, educated, tax-paying people back to their country of origin in Africa.

Whereas Chapter VII Article 46 of the Constitution of the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA) states that
“The Board shall meet in regular sessions at least three times a year;”
