ULAA NATIONAL PRESIDENT AT LATE PROF. WILTON SANKAWULO'S MEMORIAL

Liberians in Kentucky and Indiana over the weekend warmly received the National ULAAPRES.jpgExecutive President of ULAA, Dr. Mariah Y. Seton, in Louisville, Kentucky, during activities celebrating the honor and memory of the late Professor Wilton G. S. Sankawulo, former Liberia’s statesman, prolific writer and socio-cultural critic.

The Liberians expressed their delight that there was now beginning a change in ULAA, where all concerns and energies were not focused on just the raw politricks of the hour, but that ULAA, under the leadership of National President Dr. Mariah Y. Seton, was beginning to venture into other non-political but very crucial areas of the welfare of the ordinary Liberians in the Diaspora.   As evidence, they pointed to the presence of ULAA over the weekend in the memorial service of the pre-eminent Liberian literary star, Professor Wilton G. S. Sankawulo, the impact and contribution ULAA made to Philadelphia Fire Tragedy under the then leadership of ULAA Interim President, Dr. Mator M. F. Kpangbai, as well as the vigorous immigration campaign launched and successful executed on behalf of thousands of Liberians.

It can be recalled that the former ULAA Interim Administration of Dr. Kpangbai declared the month of February as The Month of Immigration Advocacy,” and launched the immigration campaign on the U.S. Capitol Hill with a climax of activities. The Interim Administration along with its Immigration Czar, Hon. Michael Wreh, has since been credited with leading the single largest delegation to the U.S. Congress, and the single largest U.S. national media exposure documentary on Liberian Immigration in the recent campaign, leading to the extension of the Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) for thousands of fellow Liberians.

In a brief telephone interview, the ULAA Chief Executive, Dr. Seton, was in towering spirit, and expressed high optimism that more and more ordinary Liberians across the Diaspora U.S.A. are beginning to develop interest in ULAA again.   The passionate and hard working ULAA Boss also spoke of the interest conveyed by Liberians of the two states and their burning desire to become member-chapters of the Union. She further expressed her National Administration’s plan to prioritize chartering and the accreditation of the two chapters, and many more.
