Ms. Shu-rina Wiah wins Miss Liberia

 
Ms Shu-rina Wiah representing Grand Bassa County has won the 2008/2009 Miss Liberia Beauty Pageant. 

missbassa.jpgThe 21 yr-old who is studying Public Administration at the African Methodist Episcopal University and desirous of being a Lawyer focused on defending the rights of women and children.

The Miss Boss Lady International Inc. and the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism presented the 2008/2009 Miss Liberia Pageant.

The was held on Saturday, May 9, 2009.

PROFILE:

Miss Shu-rina Wiah represented Grand Bassa County and she is 21 years old.

She is studying Public Administration at the African Methodist Episcopal University.

She desires to become a Lawyer, with focus on defending the rights of women and children. In the future, she would like to use her voice as a concerned citizen to serve as Ambassador on behalf of young women.

Shu-rina participated in Last years Miss Liberia pageant and was unsuccessful; however, Misss Wiah says she had a whole year to develop her negatives and build her skills and is sure she will win this year's crown.

She feels it’s important not to give up on herself and has lived by the motto if you don't succeed try and try again. Her hobbies are modeling, singing, reading and going to church.

MISS GRAND KRU:
19 year-old Miss Cristie Doe is a senior student at the Stella Maris Polytechnic, majoring in Accounting and desires to become a Corporate Lawyer.

MISS LOFA:
Miss Beteyea Evans is Miss Lofa County. She is 21 years old and attends the Stella Maris Polytechnic, studying Business Management and Accounting. She is currently a senior student.

MISS BONG:
Miss Layal Kazouh is 22 years old and is representing Bong County. She is a senior student at the University of Liberia; majoring in Zoology. Her career goal is to become a Cardiologist.

MISS MARGIBI:
Miss Tina Bargaye is 23 years old and studies Public Administration at the University of Liberia. Her career goals are to become a Business Manager and a Social Worker.

MISS MARYLAND:
Miss Warti Robinson is representing Maryland County. She is 18 years old and a recent graduate of the St. Theresa's Convent Catholic School. She is enrolled in the Stella Maris Polytechnic studying Accounting.

MISS GRAND BASSA:
Miss Shu-rina Wiah is Miss Grand Bassa County and she is 21 years old. She is studying Public Administration at the African Methodist Episcopal University. She desires to become a Lawyer, with focus on defending the rights of women and children.

BACKGROUND

A national pageant is held every year to find the young Liberian woman who will wear Liberia's most prestigious crown. These beautiful Liberian young women from the various counties come face-to-face for this challenge.

16512.photo.1.jpgMiss Liberia is a young woman who exemplifies style, grace and brains; she is hard working and most important, she is dedicated to her country and to empowering its young people. Miss Liberia is the queen of Liberia; she is a future leader, a mother to be, a survivor, a patriot, educator and a humanitarian.

This year, nine beautiful and intelligent women emerged as finalists from the various counties; however, due to unfolding circumstances, three of the contestants have dropped out of the competition leaving the challenge to six and will be contesting for the crown and title of Miss Liberia 08/09.

The Miss Boss Lady Int'l Inc., as Hosts/Producers of the Miss Liberia Pageant and franchise, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, along with your support strives to have one of the continent's leading achievement programs and also to be among the continent's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women.

Last year, our organization and MICAT, with support from Comium, NASSCORP, Firestone, Kakata Holdings, Ecobank, RCI, FedEx, Tru Medium, Bellview Airlines, SN Brussels, Ansah Photo Studio, Liberia Travel and Magazine, as well as the Miss Liberia America Organization enabled us to not only give scholarship assistance to some of the contestants but also to over 40 Liberian youth through out the country; through a national spelling bee program led by Miss Bendu Parker, Miss Liberia 2007/2008, in partnership with the American Embassy.

In addition, we also support Orphanages as often as we can by providing school supplies, 16515.photo.1.jpggenerator, clothing and provisions.

We extend our thanks and appreciation to the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) for their tireless support in youth development and empowerment in Liberia. We want to do more and with your continuous help and support, we will.
