Bro. Garnett Yaah Kollie Gbamakollie is Father of the Year

It was nothing but “praise, worship, singing, adoration, and hallelujah amen,” at the African United Methodist Church in Trenton, New GARNETT2.jpg00Jersey.

The occasion was the father’s day program! Several parishioners, clergy, family and friends had assembled for this auspicious occasion from far and near, and across the country. The one million dollar question is who was being made the church’s father of the year?
The one whom the African United Methodist Church honored and crowned father of the year 2009 is a God fearing man, a christain of incredible tolerance with and concern for his family, an admirable character; a brilliant and intellectual gentleman, and devout servant of God, a reliable friend who care about the needs of his friend, family and those whom he doesn’t know; a man who has been tested and trial, but withstood the tribulation and the test of the time; an exceptionally loving and caring father and husband, a child of God.

Bro. Garnett Yaah Kollie Gbamakollie.Born in Bong County, Liberia, Garnett embraced the Christian faith at an early age. He is President of the Men’s Department and Treasurer of the Garnett Yaah Kollie Gbamakollie.

He is a computer analyst and works for the White & Case Law firm in New York, NY.  Yaah is married to Mrs. Darwina Mooney Gbamakollie and is blessed with five beautiful children. His wife described him as her best friend and father who puts his family first.

In his father’s day message, Father Gbamakollie said he was exceptionally grateful, first of all to the Almighty God and, second, to his church, the Garnett Yaah Kollie Gbamakollie, for bestowing upon him the singular honor of Father of the year 2009.

He said no one knows, but his creator and his loving wife, Darwina Mooney Gbamakollie, how he value the honor of being father of the year.

During the ceremony, several special fathers and sons were recognized and honored. These honored were Fathers Ernest Jerome Wesley, Sr, George Whea Andrews, Daniel Swen Sungben, and George Friday Wesley, Jr. and the sons were Karr Togar Andrews and Edmond Toe Ramble, Jr.

The occasion was graced by several ULAA and Liberian community heavy weights and dignitaries. Attending this auspicious occasion were Dr. Mariah Seton, ULAA National President; Hon. James N. Larsah, Chairman of ULAA Board of directors, Hon. Mohammed S. Kromah, Former ULAA President and Dr. Margaret Kromah, and Hon. Benoni Tarr Grimes, Former ULAA Elections Commission Chairman.

Also attending occasion were Mrs. Celia Cuffy-Browne, ULAA Eastern Regional Vice President, Mrs. Alice Jackson, ULAA Board member, Ms. Nelson, Former President of the Liberian Community of Maryland, and several others.

Following the ceremony, a sumptuous lunch as served in the auditorium of the African United Methodist Church and another splendid reception at the home of the honoree, in Ewing. NJ. It was characterized by all pomp and peagentry.
