 Minnesota PRO-USA Celebrates First Anniversary in Grand Style

All is set for the local Liberian-Minnesota soccer club, PRO USA, to celebrate the Liberian 163rd Independence in grand Style.

SenAmyKlobucharPortrait.gifAccording to the organizers, Minnesota US Senator Amy Klobuchar will serve as the Key Note Speaker on Saturday, July 25th during an Award and Recognition Night. The program is being organized by Pro-USA in marking its 1st Anniversary. Liberians from many Midwest states and others are now arriving in Minnesota for the July 26 celebration and for the Pro-USA Anniversary.

The Executive Director, Mr. Duannah Siryon has confirmed that an array of current and ex-Liberian soccer stars, led by soccer legend, George Weah, are expected to arrive in Minnesota for the 1st anniversary celebration and the Liberian 163rd Independence celebration.

Mr. Siryon said among ex-stars expected to attend the highly expected program are George Harris, Ansu Sirleaf, Isaiah Lincoln, Patrick Chea, Mark Gibson and John Menyongar.

Others are Sarkpa Nyanseor, Prince Daye, James Weah, Simon Mattar, Melvin Tarley, Moses Baysah, Richard Kamara, Francis Doe, Ansu Toure, Godfrey Mayor and Andrew White.

A press release signed by Omari Jackson indicates that also named players Andrew White, Junior Browne, Nestor Sandy, Clarence Weah, Donyen Kofa, Patrick Doe, Henry Beetoe and Roland Barclay.

opong.jpgThe various soccer games will be under the authority of international coach Youssef Barbaki, whose interest includes a future handling of Liberia’s national soccer team, Lone Star.

The celebration will involve soccer and kickball matches, and it is expected to be a three-day fun-filled days for the participants.

According to the itinerary, Saturday July 24th is the arrival of invitees from their various domiciles to Minnesota, and the next day, July 25th will be further activities, including the mush-expected Awards Day, at Cooper High School’s Stadium.

PRO USA All Stars will play against Minnesota Thunder and Liberian Ex-players of the 1980s will go against those of the 90s on July 25th.

The release says there will also be several games on Sunday, July 26th and it will conclude with a farewell party, for their visitors, relatives and friends.

Since the cancellation of the Liberian Independence Day celebration by the OLM, several Liberians have expressed their interest in attending the program. Also expected will be friends and acquaintances that lost contacts as a result of the civil-war in Liberia.

PRO USA soccer club is an organization geared at providing recognition to athletes who contributed to the development of sports in Liberia. PRO U.S.A is also a non-for-profit sports organization duly registered and exists in the United States of America with branch in the Republic of Liberia
