ALFRED COLEMAN LAID TO REST

The remains of Alfred Wady Coleman, III had been laid to rest in Careysburg, alfred_coleman_funeral_78.jpgMontserrado County following funeral rites at the Saint Thomas Episcopal Church on Camp Johnson Road, Monrovia the People’s News has learned.

The late Mr. Coleman passed this life on Monday, October 19, 2009 at his home in Coon Rapids, Minnesota following a protracted period of illness. Our reporter in Monrovia said, the funeral service was officiated by the Rev. Dr. James Sellie, Rector of Saint Thomas Episcopal Church. In his funeral discourse, Fr. Sellie described the deceased as devoted servant of God who served his church in many capacities with love and dignity.

Dr. Sellie said Bro. Coleman was patient with people who angered him. Adding he possessed a heart with a forgiving spirit and treated others kindly. The Rector of St. Thomas Church prayed that the bereaved family take solace in the spirit of faith and courage.

Prior to the final journey of the remains of Bro Coleman to Liberia a funeral service was held at the Brooklyn Park Evangelical Free Church in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

Like the service in the United States, several relatives, friends and sympathizers gathered in Monrovia to reflect on the life and legacy of Alfred Wady Coleman, III and pay their last respects. Among organizations and individuals attending the funeral ceremonies were the Masonic craft, Liberian National Police, Crowd 50, the Liberian Basketball Association, the Ministry of Finance, the Unity Party, the Government of Liberia and others.

 

He leaves to mourn his wife of 20 years, Marie Urey Coleman; his children, Alfred Wady Coleman Jr., Milpha Blamo (daughter/niece), Aisha Coleman, Farmer Coleman, Siede Coleman, Almarie Coleman; brothers, Soko Sackor, Samuel Coleman and Charles Coleman; sisters Sara Coleman-Caphart, Esthel "Mama" Coleman-Thomas, Comfort Itoka and Alfreda Coleman; grandchildren, Israel Coleman, Kassah Coleman, Maxine Coleman, Milton-Bernard Blamo, and Jimal David; his "Crowd 50" brothers, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of Almighty God rest in peace. Amen
