Monrovia, January 19, 2009 (PRO USA): A high power delegation of the US based Liberian sport promotion organization, PRO USA, has arrived in Liberia to launch its second annual initiatives in the country.

PRO USA is a non-political, non-governmental organization with the overarching objective to empower Liberian youths through sport and other developmental initiatives.

The 78 men delegation led by Executive Director Duannah Siryon and Deputy Executive Director Jefferson Doe arrived in the country recently to meet with various stakeholders including President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, sport authorities and authorities in other non sports sector. The delegation also includes former Lone Star skippers Kelvin Sebwe and Ezekial Doe. Other members of the delegation flew into the country from various parts of Europe, Africa, America and Asia.

Mr. Siryon said during the delegation’s visit it will consummate discussions with the Government of Liberia and sport authorities on the organization’s plan to build a sport program, two of which would include the erection of a sport academy and sport library in Liberia.

He said one of the core objectives of the organization is to make Liberian players and athletes resourceful in their preferred areas of interest. He said the organization will in the future award scholarships to Liberian athletes to further their education abroad in the area of sport management.

Mr. Siryon also expressed thanks and appreciation to government for the decentralization of the just ended County Meet Tournament. He rated the tournament as the most organized and successful County Meet in the history of Liberia. He lauded the organizers for choosing "unity" as the theme of the tournament, noting that the meet actually contributed to the reunification of the Liberian people irrespective of the counties of origin or tribes.

He assured the Liberian people that PRO USA will aid the Government of Liberia to strengthen sport since it has proven to be one major means through which unity can be attain.

Professionals in the U.S.A. Inc. (PRO USA Inc.), a not-for-profit sports organization, was founded on 5th May, 2008 by enthusiastic Liberians residing in the United States of America who saw the need to partnership with the Government of Liberia and other humanitarian organizations in its endeavor to empower and capacitate Liberian youths in identifying their potentials through sports. The organization has since expanded its membership to other nationals and established a coordinating arm in Liberia through which its interest will be protected and activities supervised.
