Wesleyan Church begins multi-cultural outreach in Twin Cities

A two- man delegation from the Pilgrim for Christ Ministry (PCM) today participated in a one-day ecumenical symposium held at the Oakdale wesleyanchurch.jpgWesleyan Church, MN, under the auspices of the Wesleyan USA General Conference. The symposium brought together religious leaders, including pastors and other members of the laity within the Wesleyan International Conference.   The two-man delegation included the Senior Pastor and co-founder of PCM, Reverend Alphonso Johnson, and Evangelist Edward William Carter, Jr., co-founder and Church Administrator.

The Conference was designed to renew, rekindle and retool Ministers of the Gospel and other church leaders for greater stewardship, personal holiness, multi-cultural outreach and Godly leadership.

Delivering her opening address, the General Superintendent of the Wesleyan Church International, Dr. Jo Anne Lyon, welcomed the participants to the symposium and admonished them to renew their commitment to the service of God. She said that, the church can no longer remain a “pew Congregation,” but must reach out to All of God’s people no matter their race, creed or culture.

She disclosed that the Wesleyan Church International through the World Hope International, Inc...A charitable arm of the Wesleyan compact is involved in intensive outreach program in several third-world countries, including Liberia.

Speaking earlier to our correspondent, the Co-founder of PCM, Evangelist Edward Carter, wesleyanchurch1.jpgsaid that the Christian church should become more pro-active and missional by speaking out against the ills of society. He frowned on the passive attitude of some Liberian religious leaders who fail to speak out against contemporary issues of social and moral concerns in the community.

He said as “redeemed people” Christians, particularly Ministers of the Gospel should manifest a social preference for righteousness that is deeply rooted in the experience of being a Servant of God. He said that Such righteousness should be translated into a “purging and remedial influence upon society.”

The Pilgrim for Christ Ministry in partnership with the Oakdale Wesleyan recently recently entered into a partnership arrangement to undertake a multi-cultural outreach Ministry to win more souls for Christ.  The Pilgrim for Christ Ministry is a non-denominational Ministry with emphasis on fulfilling the great commission: God ye into all the word and preach my Gospel (Making disciples for Christ
