DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

POSITION INFORMATION: The Organization of Liberians in Minnesota is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Finance. He / She will oversee the development and maintenance of efficient and effective financial operations of the organization. He /She will also assist in the preparation of the organization’s budget and financial analyses, and ensure that appropriate financial policies, procedures, and internal financial controls are maintained to safeguard the organization and facilitate its financial management.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Manage the day to day financial operations; including cash flow, monthly, quarterly and annual close of accounting, and maintenance of financial records.

• Develop and maintain effective financial and accounting policies, processes, internal controls, investments, revenue recognition methods and balance sheet analysis.

• Develop and the organization’s budget on an annual basis; and report on the progress and changes on a monthly and quarterly basis.

• Ensure compliance of financial practices with OLM partners is consistent with state and federal regulations.

• Perform payroll administration (time-off entry, salary adjustments. Etc.)

• Ensure and cooperate with an independent financial auditing firm contracted and or approved by the Board of Directors.

• Ensure tax filing in accordance with state and federal laws governing 501(C) 3 organizations.

REQUIREMENTS:

Core Qualifications:

• Ability to establish and meet deadlines to achieve optimum results

• Ability to establish clear financial priorities in a timely fashion

• Excellent reputation for integrity and judgment

• Solid experience using QuickBooks and other financial software

• Experience with non-profit financial analysis.

• Exceptional public engagement competencies, superb oral and written communication skills required.

• Strong organizational advocacy and time management abilities and attention to detail.

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance.

EDUCATION:

At least a Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance

EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate should have a three to five (3-5) years experience in developing budget for an organization with multiple programs and large number of funding sources.
