Obrien Erskine Smith Bided Final good bye It
was a sad day as several relatives and friends assembled at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Halifax Ave. Brooklyn Center,
Obrien Erskine Smith answered the call of the Lord to return home on Monday February 01, 2010 at 7:30 pm at the Park Nicholas Hospital in St. Luis Park, Minnesota. Obrien was born on April 1, 1964 unto the union of Samuel K. Erskine, Sr and Wede Gongar at the J. J. Dossen hospital in Harper Maryland County, Liberia. He embraced the Christian faith at an early age. He was baptized in 1969 and was subsequently confirmed 1971 at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Harper. He completed elementary school at the Lady of Fatima School in 1972 and graduated from the Cape Palmas High school in Harper, Maryland in 1982. He later obtained a certificate in Electronics engineering from Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC) in 1984. He took up employment with the Ministry of education as Electronics engineering in 1985 and served in that position up to the civil war in Liberia.
He escaped Liberia for Cote d’Ivoire where he served as volunteer to the Catholic Humanitarian assistance for Liberian refugee and later established goldsmith business. He traveled to the United States and continued with his Goldsmith until his health began to decline and subsequently his passing. Obrien leaves to mourn his wife (Helena Gibson Erskine), his son (Klon Cornelius Erskine), his daughter (U'dinin Erskine), sisters, brothers, and a host of relatives and friends in Europe, Africa (Liberia), and the USA.
