IMPORTANT MEETING FOR LIBERIANS IN MINNESOTA
According to a press release sent to our news desk, the meeting is scheduled for Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the Brookdale Covenant Church in Brooklyn Center, MN at the hour of 5:00 pm. The meeting which is the talk of the town and is expected to draw a huge crowd is intended to resolve an ongoing leadership crisis on the OLM Board. Recently, the Chairman, Mr. John Tarley was allegedly removed unconstitutionally and replaced in early January with the Mr. Clarence Yaskey, the man whom he defeated during the Board leadership election. Mr. Tarley immediately rejected that action and termed it as illegal and unconstitutional. The Community subsequently convened a town hall meeting and constituted the OLM Community Intervention Committee (CIC) with the mandate to investigate and resolve the matter. Meanwhile, several members of the community who spoke with our reporter blamed the current OLM constitution for the on going crisis on the board. Mr. Isaac Morris of New Hope told our reporter that the OLM constitution needs to be revoked and replaced. He said the document is a recipe for continueous conflict in our community. "The OLM constitution has taken the community from the people who own it and has given it to a hand full of people and this is very sad," he lamented. For her part, Ms. Sarah Doe of Crystal said Mr. Tarley should be restored to his office as chairman of the Board. She said, it was the people who elected the board and therefore "whoever makes has the power to break." The constitution, she continues, was not written in stone it can be amended. If it does not reflect our wishes of the community, we as the people have the right to vote to change and set the community back on the right track. Report says the committee has written both Mr. Tarley and other members of the OLM Board of Director inviting them to this all important. It is therefore expected the all parties to the conflict will be present and the community will take the necessary action for the good of all.
