OLM Board in Big Shambles

By Gus Toomey

There are clear signals that efforts to restore peace and harmony to the OLM Board and the community is far from becoming a reality.

burgala.jpg100_3209.JPGRecently, the Liberian Ministerial Association advanced a two-prong proposition: either Mr. Tarley is reinstated as the Chairman of the Board for a tenure of three-months , or a community town hall meeting be held at which time an up and down vote be cast for or against the "Yaskie’s Board."

According to the proposals, if a vote of confidence is cast in favor of the Yaskie’s Board, it remains as currently configured, but if the vote expresses no confidence, then all members of the Board resign their positions, and fresh election held within 30 days to constitute a new Board.

However, all indications are that the "Yaskie’s led Board" has out rightly rejected the LMA proposals, while unimpeachable sources close to Mr. Tarley, the legitimate Chairman of OLM Board of Directors suggest that he is opened to count two of the proposition. Initial reaction to the LMA’s proposal by a member of the embattled Board led by Mr. Yaskie clearly indicates how adamant and abrasive Mr. Yaskie and members this impeached Board have become.

Many people our reporter spoke to, expressed indignation over the failure of Mr. Yaskie and his so-called Board to disassociate itself from the recent statement made by Mr. Bangara Trawally, insinuating that "white envelop passed hands, " which presupposes that members of LMA might have received bribe from Mr. Tarley thus influencing their decision.

With this latest development in the OLM, many Liberians are wondering whether peace will ever return to OLM, especially when people began to show such disrespect and callousness towards religious leaders, who are the conscience of the society. One Liberian averred: "where are we rparker.jpggoing when people start to insult of religious leaders…this is very un- Liberian," she lamented.

Mary Blamo of Brooklyn Park said it’s seems like every member of the board has his own board. There is more infighting than ever in the history of OLM. Mr. Henry Kesselly has his own agenda, Richard with his own program, Bangara Trawally making sweeping statement in the name of the board, and the list goes on and on.

Another member of the OLM Mr. Robert Brown of Crystal lamented that this worst OLM Board; there is no cooperation, collaboration, understanding or team work every body doing his own thing.

A Resident of New Hope, Mr. Isaac Tweh said the board is a circus of madness and does not represent the integrity of the community. He noted, they are full of drama and they make us shame every day.

They all concluded that the best option is for the entire board to be voted out. If these people truly love this community as they claim, they need to turn over and leave.
