OLM, Why Barb Davis White?

PPN Staff Reporter

What many Liberian are asking after the celebration of the 163th Independence Anniversary is why give a platform to an individual Barb.jpgwho is against the issues that are important to all Liberians?

Recently Barb Davis White a Republican turned Democrat overnight is running against Keith Ellison was invited by the OLM to serve as key Note speaker for the Liberia's 163th Independence celebration. This decision on the part of the OLM leadership created concern, anxiety and annoyance in certain quarters in the Liberian Community.

Liberian, Philip Robertson of New Hope, who spoke to our reporter said Keith Ellison has been a true friend of the Liberian community and had consistently and continuously championed the immigration campaign of Liberians and African immigrants since his election. He pointed out that this bad decision making and wonders whats is wrong with the young men in charge of the OLM. "How can you attempt to unseat a man who cares about the things that concern our community the most?"he asked.

Mrs. Mary Brown wonders if there was no Liberian competent to deliver the oration at the OLM organized Liberian Independence day program. She said this is hypocrisies at the highest on the part of the OLM leadership. Mrs. Brown lamented that the Liberian leadership of the OLM continue to conduct the affairs of the community like a bunch of confused people.

Barb Davis White has attacked Ellison’s vote for the financial bailout bill, wants tighter immigration limits, would end ethanol subsidies and wants a less-spendy federal government. White, who has lagged far behind Ellison in fund-raising, pushed at the Republican state convention in late May for a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and for making the Bush tax cuts permanent.

Barb Davis White prompted shocked gasps from the packed hearing room when she said, "Rosa Parks did not move to the front of the bus to support sodomy." Her testimony involved accusations that the movement for marriage equality is hijacking the civil rights movement.

By filing as a Democrat just moments before the deadline, Davis White set in motion the requirement for a primary election to determine whether or not Ellison will have the opportunity to be on the ballot in the general election this November. The primary, to be held in early August, will give Minnesota’s 5th district a choice of which Democratic candidate will be listed on the ballot, and Davis White’s belief is that it will be hers.

Davis White previously sought the Minnesota Independence Party endorsement. When no one candidate obtained the necessary 60% of delegate votes at the nominating convention on May 20, Davis White began the process of obtaining petition signatures from residents of the district in which she is seeking to represent. While gathering petition signatures, however, Davis White became convinced that there was a more courageous alternative.

The question is why does Liberian immigrants stand to benefit from Davis White. They all continue to ask, why Barb Davis White? Does she share the value of the Liberian immigrants? Why OLM Why?
