Kerper Dwanyen Goes to Court: Rubber Stamp Board approves

The People's News has learned that the Board of Directors of OLM has approved a decision proposed by Mr. ARTHUR_ZAKAMA.jpgKerper Dwanyen, President of OLM, to take legal action against officials and members of the just ended 2007 OLM Elections Commission. Mrs. Georgette Gray, an experienced and courageous member of the Board of Directors, voted against the decision, questioning the intent and timing of the process.

According to our sources, Mrs. Gray wondered why would an administration pursue legal action when it still has the means and opportunity to bring all the parties to the table, to find a reasonable solution to the problem. She is also reported to have said,” The function of a Board of Directors is not to approve everything the President says, without first guiding the president and looking at all alternative options, especially given a divided community as a result of a bitter fought elections”.

There are strong indications that this decision has confirmed that this current Board of Directors is a rubber stamp entity, ready to dance to the tone of Kerper Dwanyen’s rebel-style dictatorship and campaign of vengeance.

Few days ago, Mr. Dwanyen decided against finding an peaceful solution to an exchange between the 2007 OLM Elections Commission and Mr. Gibson Keypo, who was appointed to review the financial activities of the recent community elections. The erstwhile Commission maintains that it is prepared to allow any auditor to review its books but that it will not submit to Mr., Gibson Keypo, who has absolutely no financial experience or credential to play the role of an auditor.

Mr. Keypo has repeatedly threatened to destroy Mr. Francis Zazay, for Mr. Zazay once dismissed a report written by Mr. Keypo’s as lacking in professional merit and substance. Mr. Zazay holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting and another in Taxation, all from prestigious American universities. It can be recalled that Mr. Keypo issued an opinion on the previous Elections Commission (2005 OLM elections) without conducting any audit, and after careful review by the then Board, it was determined that the report is nothing more than a premeditated attempt to settle political score and to destroy the characters of others.
People-to-People has learned, after a painstaking investigation, that Mr. Gibson Keypo has no professional financial kerpeh.jpgcredential as an auditor, except his claim that he once worked with auditors in Liberian, some twenty years ago. Mr. Keypo has confirmed that he currently works in a popular Group Home in Minnesota as an assistant supervisor.

When contacted to comment on the decision, the current Chairman of the OLM Board, Mr. Arthur Zakama, said,” Mr. Kerper Dwanyen was elected by the people, so we will approve of whatever proposal he sends us…Since the people trusted his judgment to put him in power, we are not in the position to question anything he does, as long as he is President of OLM”.

When questioned further about Keypo’s qualification as an auditor or an accountant, Mr. Zakama pointed out that,” Mr. Keypo is a graduate student in the area of leadership, so there is no question about preparedness to teach Mr. Francis Zazay a lesson”.

Observers believe that the friction between Mr. Kerper Dwanyen and Francis Zazay and between Francis Zazay and Arthur Zakama are now coming to head, as these two officials, Messrs Dwanyen and Zakama, are using their leadership positions to come after a man who they believe exposed their aggressive and often rude behavior throughout the just ended elections. A large number of Liberians is convinced that given the fact that Mr. Kerper Dwanyen is vindictive and vicious, it would be difficult for this community to experience genuine peace and reconciliation, as he will do anything and everything to destroy his political opponents, real or imagined.

As we prepare to go to press, we also learned that OLM will use $5000.00 (five thousand dollars) of due payment to underwrite the cost of hiring a lawyer to pursue a case that can be peacefully handled.
Several members of the community say that latest move on the part of Kerper Dwanyen to a vicious attempt to further divide the community. They say Kerper should be finding means of unifying the community and bringing people together instead.
