President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on Thursday marked her 71st birth anniversary in the southeastern city of Greenville,
in Sinoe County, with a renewed commitment to continue to pursue her reform agenda for the growth and development of Liberia.
A high power delegation of the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA) was guest of the Liberian Community Association
of North Jersey recently for an honoring program and to hold consultative meeting with the outgoing and newly elected officers.
Several distinguished personalities of the community were honored for delicated and selfless services and contribution to
the community over the last couple of years. The honorees were presented with beautiful certificates and diplomas.

King-Williamson which sad and mournful event occurred on January 14, A.D. 2012 at 7:30 post meridian. The late Reverend Mother
Alzetta Bahnti Williamson is survived by her devoted husband of fifty four (54) unbroken years, Counselor Joseph E. Williamson,
six biological and several god and adopted children..

Liberia's Nobel peace laureate Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was sworn in Monday in a lavish $1.2 million ceremony after her disputed
reelection in the nation's second post-war polls. The 73-year old grandmother took the oath administered
by the country's Chief Justice Johnnie Lewis as thousands looked on from the grounds of the capitol building in Monrovia.

Let us give praise and thanks to Almighty God for his manifold blessings upon us as a people and upon
our beloved Liberia, now in its ninth year of peace and stability. 2011 was a momentous year for our
country. Yet we proved to the world, more importantly we proved to ourselves, that we had reached the level of political maturity
to hold democratic, free, fair and transparent elections in our once fractured land. 
As we enter into this new leadership of the Organization of Liberians in Minnesota (OLM),
I like to seize this moment to wish all of us including our families a prosperous and fulfilling New Year (2012), which I
consider a year of Renewal, Unification and Solidarity in our Liberian Communities both in the Diaspora and in Mama-Liberia.
May all we have wished for come true, and may our plans be cultivated on fertile soil for cooperation, growth, and progress
in this New Year and the years ahead. 
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on Friday dedicated the bridge linking the City of Monrovia to the commercial district of Bushrod Island. Speaking at the dedication, the
President thanked all those who played leading roles, including Ministers of Finance who spearheaded negotiations for the

A US based Liberian financial expert has called on Liberians to "see the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to two of Liberia’s
finest females as recognition of efforts being made by our mothers and sisters in bringing about lasting peace in the country."
Mr. Austin Fallah said the model introduced by these two African ladies should be used as a yardstick
in solving conflicts that may arise around the world. 
The Liberian Community Association of North Jersey, Inc (LCANJ) has a new President to stir ship of the community and he is
Emmett Trinity. On Saturday, December 17, 2011, the Chairman of the Elections Commission of the Community,
Hon. Augustus Koiquah, declared Mr. Emmett G. Trinity President-Elect of LCANJ after all the votes were tallied. Mr. Trinity
is a known name within LCANJ circles for his consistent and outstanding service. Hon. 
Report reaching the Peoples News confirms that Mr. Zubah Kpanaku has been elected Chairman of the Organization of Liberians
in Minnesota (OLM) Board of Directors.The Election was held today, December 17, 2011 at the OLM office in Brooklyn Park. Speaking
with our reportyers after recieving the report, Mr. Kpanaku said he is committed to making the OLM responsive to the needs
of the community as well as ensuring that there is reconciliation between and amongst the people of the community. He pointed
out that there is a new day in the OLM and the community will come to appreciate the OLM under his chairmanship of the Board.
OSLO, Norway (AP) – Three women; Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee,
and Yemeni activist Tawakkol Karman, who fought injustice, dictatorship and sexual violence in Liberia and Yemen accepted
the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize on Saturday, calling on repressed women worldwide to rise up against male supremacy. President
Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said after accepting her Nobel diploma and medal at a ceremony in Oslo, said "....My sisters,
my daughters, my friends — find your voice..," 
Against the testimonies of fair play of more than 4,000 electoral observers, the opposition Congress for Democratic
Change (CDC) contended that the 2011 presidential election was fraught with vote-rigging in favor of the ruling Unity Party
(UP). The series of investigations the National Elections Commission (NEC) conducted based on "evidences" CDC adduced
– investigations, which Carter Center’s observer team affirmed as standard – found no evidence of fraud.
The opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) boycotted the November 8 presidential runoff on unprovable vote-rigging
claims and staged a "peace vigil" that degenerated into a violent confrontation between its partisans and police.
What happened is an overly told story. However, what has been happening behind political closed doors in the name of "peace
dialogue", since then, is bothering many legal minded and patriotic Liberians, who fear the Sirleaf Administration might
be trapping itself into a governance circus – of a Gyude Bryant type NTGL – in the vain name of peace. 
Today marks the 22nd day since the cold hands of death snatched away the life of a distinguished son
of Bong County, Dr. Peter Lorkula Naigow, former Vice President of the Republic of Liberia. Dr. Naigow is reported to have
passed away in Conakry, the Republic of Guinea, on Monday, November 14, 2011 following a brief period of illness. The Founder,
Chairman, officers and members of the Bong Progressive Movement are bitterly shocked and sadly overwhelmed by the news of
the passing of this great man, outstanding scholar and dazzling son of the Kpelle people. 
The Dean of Trinity Cathedral in Monrovia, the Very Rev. Dr. Herman Browne has released four books for Christian education
and teaching purposes. Speaking to our reporter recently In Monrovia, Dr. Browne said the publication
of the books is part of an effort to ensure that the congregation he serves is an informed church in those days of adversities.
He pointed out that an informed congregation or community will defend the mission of the Christian and will fearlessly reach
out to win more souls for Christ. He said he is involved with research on other aspect of the church for the sound instruction
of the church. 
The Special Independent Commission of Inquiry appointed by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to investigate the November 7 disturbances
has submitted its report to the President. The Commission, headed by Sister Mary Laurene Browne, submitted
its report on Friday, November 25, at the Ministry of State. Among its recommendations, the Commission has called for the
dismissal of the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Mr. Marc Amblard. 
The late Esther Naniker Davies Taylor, mother of Rev. Dr. Francis Tablah of Ebenezer Community Church and Amelia Taylor-Galimah
of Minnesota, was laid to rest at her home town of Kingsville, Margibi County, Liberia. Amidst bright
and beautiful weather several family members and sympathizer congregated at the Grace Baptist Church located in the Barnesville
Estate, in Monrovia, Liberia on Saturday, November 12, 2011 the funeral ceremonies of Esther Naniker Davies Taylor. 
A former Commissioner of the Township of Caldwell, Benoni Tarr
Grimes says the Caldwell Bridge is a time bomb and if nothing is urgently done by the Government of Liberia to have the bridge
reconstructed in the shortest possible time, it may collapse. Mr. Grimes expressed fear that the bridge is a major bridge
that is leading and connecting to other parts of the city and if that bridge collapses, it will create serious problem as
the township of Caldwell and other cities beyond Caldwell would be disconnected from Monrovia and its environs.
