LCM CONSTITUTES LEADERSHIP

Ramsey, MN/  In a well-attended consultative meeting today, members of the newly formed, Liberian Community Association in Minnesota (LCM) edward_carter_22.jpgwith headquarters in Saint Paul, Minnesota, nominated and endorsed a corps of Interim Leaders to steer the affairs of the Organization pending elections.
Those nominated to head the executive branch of the LCM, are Hon. Edward William Carter, Jr., Acting Chairman, Mr. Momodu Kemokai, Vice Chairman, Ms. Belinda Boyce, Secretary; Mr. Richard Wahlo, Treasurer and Ms. Danlette Benson Chaplain.
For the Interim Board of Directors, Hon. Benoni Tarr Grimes, was nominated Chairman. Other members of the Board are Mr. Patrick Morris, Co-Chair; Mr. Solomon Sipply, Secretary; Mr. Richard Harmon, and Mr. Thomas Warkie.
The LCM is a non-for profit community-based organization which seeks to foster unity, and oneness amongst Liberians of all persuasions resident in the State of Minnesota. As a social-service entity, the LCM will seek to implement programs that would cater to the social, cultural and economic needs of the community.
Speaking at the close of the meeting Hon. Carter thanked members of the community for responding to the citation at short notice and for turning out in their numbers. He said, the LCM is organized to cater to the need of the community. For too long now, our community has been left out. Now is the time to make a difference. Adding, this organization is here to service the community and that is what we will do.
Several members who attended the meeting said, the Liberian Community in Saint Paul was long over due. They pledged their commitment and support.
Meanwhile, a draft constitution was presented to the Organization today by the Constitutional Committee. The LCM is scheduled to hold a general community meeting on Sunday, April 13, 2008  Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church (585 Fuller Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55103). High on the agenda will the constitution, the 501 ( c) 3 status, the way forward.
